Clinical and morphological studies on spontaneous rupture of the gastrocnemius tendon in broiler breeders.

چکیده
1. Clinical and morphological studies were performed in 8 broiler breeder flocks (one hybrid) originating from two different farms in Bulgaria, with an incidence of lameness in female birds between 3 and 4% on one farm and 7 and 8% on the other. Clinical and morphological studies were performed. 2. Ruptured gastrocnemius tendons were observed in 78 broiler breeders, 24 to 31 weeks old with signs of lameness, selected for pathoanatomical study from different flocks. Unilateral ruptures predominated, over 80%. 3. A histological study of 20 samples from one farm and 8 samples from the other revealed that lesions varied between birds. In about 50% of them, haemorrhages, dystrophic and necrobiotic changes in tendons were present. In the other 50% of cases, the resolving haematoma and ruptured tendon were surrounded by fibrous tissue growth. No inflammatory changes were detected.

Leg Weakness Pathology in Broiler Chickens
The aim of the present work is to make a review on the literature concerning the incidence of some major pathologies of leg skeleton in broiler chickens and broiler breeders, related to poor animal welfare. On the basis of data on the incidence of leg skeletal pathology published by us and by other researchers, this review goes through some reports on femoral head necrosis (FHN), tibial dyschon...
متن کاملMorphological and biomechanical studies on the common calcaneal tendon in dogs.
Spontaneous rupture at the distal part of the gastrocnemius tendon (GT) is the second most common non-traumatic tendon injury in dogs, whereas the other strands of the common calcaneal tendon do not seem to have a predisposition to rupture. In order to discover why we investigated the common calcaneal tendons of 63 dogs microscopically and biomechanically. Both the gastrocnemius and superficial...

Background: Bilateral rupture of the patellar tendon is a very rare injury, which takes place in relation to chronic systemic diseases. These injuries are known causes. Some of these causes are particular in patellar tendon rupture and another are in quadriceps tendon rupture. Case presentation: 70-year-old diabetic man with simultaneous bilateral patellar tendon disruption of proximal inser...

متن کاملReconstruction of long digital extensor tendon by cranial tibial muscle fascia graft in a dog
Tendon rupture in dogs is generally the result of a direct trauma. This report described the use of adjacent muscle autogenic fascial graft for reconstruction of distal rupture of long digital extensor tendon in a dog. A two-year-old male mix breed dog, was presented with a non-weight bearing lameness of the right hind limb and a deep rupture of lateral side of right tarsus. History taking reve...
